Hanlon’s razor: “They’re just dumb.”

People tend to attribute others’ inappropriate behaviour to bad evil intentions, or at least mischief, while their actions could as well be just plain dumbness. There’s a saying for that:

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

The idea being that most people are not evil by nature. Fighting is costly on all fronts, and living in peace is preferred (an exception are angry people who have a monkey in their head and a worm in their behind controlling their moods and actions). Hence, if there’s no obvious reason to cause someone to spend the effort to hurt you, do not assume they’re there to cause you harm.

It is the natural state to be in peace (when the basic needs are satisfied). Evil people, who hurt things for seemingly no reason, do have some reasons, and these reasons are usually buried deep in their subconscious. All the others, who might have hurt you, might as well be simply stupid.
